October Snow Montana Style 2016

October snow Montana style.

Yes! In Montana an October snow is par for the course. It doesn’t usually stick around but almost always seems to catch us by surprise. No different this year. Snow came in fast. White out conditions overnight. We woke up to a semi trailers stuck in the highway tunnel and two truck/trailers jack-knifed on the onramp. The tow truck got stuck pulling them out. That was our sign! Snow day. Home from school.

What a day it was! Cold and snowy with kids begging all day to play outside in the first snow of the year. The ranch crew kept busy feeding to keep animals healthy and warm. Kids tried out their sleds and made snow angels.

October snow storms typically do not last long. Clouds cleared off that night and those clear skies are a sure sign that it will be cold.

Morning brought temps in the 20s, bright sun and the most beautiful snowy skyline you have ever seen. Back in the 50s by the afternoon and the first snow of the year has almost melted away.

It’s Montana! We’ll see snow again soon and often
