World Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies Adjusted for High Altitude

Yield: 5 dozen

Bake @ 375 for 8-10 minutes on ungreased cookie sheet.


  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • ***Optional Add-Ins: 1 cup walnuts


  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl cream butter, brown sugar, sugar and vanilla until well blended.
  3. Add eggs one at a time to creamed mixture beating well after each addition.
  4. In a small bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture.
  6. Add water to mixture; mix well.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips.
  8. Chill dough for 30 minutes.
  9. Bake @ 375 for 8-10 minutes.
  10. Cool on cookie sheet for 2 minutes then remove to cooling rack.
