Feeding bulls with Jim & crew at Felton Angus Ranch. Check out the bull ration in real time. See each portion of the bull feed as it goes into the mixer. See first hand how Felton Angus Ranch feeds tough, athletic bulls with good feet that are ready to go to work for you.
The way a bull is fed will dictate his longevity out on the range. We don’t want a real fat bull here at the ranch. Fat bulls don’t work for us and they won’t work for you. We’ve bought fat bulls and learned that they do not get out and cover cows.
We’ve dialed in our bull ration to feed athletic, tough bulls ready to go to work for you.
The major part of our ration in the bull lots is roughage. Ground hay (grass/alfalfa) is the biggest input. We put long hay in our vertical mixer and grind it. Then add alfalfa haylage, corn silage, DDG (dried distiller’s grain), corn and a mineral pack.
We have our nutritionist formulate the ration. All the forages are tested and home grown. Cattle are fed twice a day.
Home raised healthy ration that cattle do great on.

Yes I purchased a new Holland feed grinder an started grinding my own feed . But I’m trying to find out how much of each product do I mix together cause I don’t want to over do it on one or the other. I have corn ,alfalfa, cottonseedhull, rice brand, cottonseed meal.
Hi Jason! Thanks for watching! We have all of our feed tested. Each crop of hay, silage, haylage, etc. Then develop a feed ration designed with our inputs with a specific outcome in mind. Usually that’s for growthy, athletic bulls that are not overfed. We pride ourselves in feeding bulls ready to go to work (not lay up under a shade tree with bad feet). I did a recent FB Live interview with our nutritionist. It has his contact info in video. Let me know if you have questions. =Susie It’s up on YouTube also. https://youtu.be/VHmpNVrD1Uk
